Receiving

This 2-Way SMS Section applies to non-Premium or Premium Rate Services. For more information on generating revenue with Premium Rate 2-Way SMS, please visit our Premium SMS section. As part of any non-Premium 2-Way SMS Service, there are 3 ways in which SMS Text Messages can be received:

Digital Bridge Media Virtual Mobile
Digital Bridge Media Virtual Mobile is designed to receive SMSs without having to use a SIM Card or GSM Terminal solution. It is geared specifically to high volume SMS applications. Incoming SMSs are handled via our direct connection into wireless carriers' SMSCs. You can receive SMSs from users on virtually any wireless carrier around the world using a standard 11 digit cell number.

Carrier Short Codes
Using Carrier Short Codes is technically the highest inbound volume SMS solution available. It provides the ability to receive SMSs without having to use a SIM Card or GSM Terminal solution. It is geared specifically to exceptionally high volume SMS applications (especially TV campaigns). Incoming SMSs are handled via Digital Bridge Media direct connections which are load balanced across all the Carriers, via the use of 4 or 5 Digit Short Code "SMS Send-In" numbers.

All Digital Bridge Media Receiving accounts include access to the Digital Bridge Media SMS Server Web Edition at no extra cost, allowing simple SMS services to be set up and operated without the need for any software development or integration whatsoever.

2-Way SMS Services
Upon receipt of an SMS, the Digital Bridge Media SMS server can also automatically trigger a responding SMS, which can be made dependent upon the message contained within the received SMS. For example, upon receipt of a message containing "IBM", within seconds a reply SMS can be sent with the live share price information for IBM.

The Digital Bridge Media SMS Server provides the ability for companies to send out their own specific data, without having to worry about the actual receipt and delivery of the SMS. As long as your databases and servers have information that can be requested, then it can be received and sent out using the Digital Bridge Media SMS Server. Common examples include:

Live Share price information
Upon receipt of an SMS from a user containing a company ticker symbol (eg. MSFT), a responding SMS Text Message is sent out within seconds containing the live Microsoft share price, volume traded, high and low of the day.

SMS Chat
All forms of SMS Chat use a 2-Way SMS System.

Live Competitions
Companies running live competitions, can accept answers via SMS.

Sales Figure Reporting
Companies can gather sales figures directly into a database via the receipt of an SMS.

Order Goods via SMS
Allow users to order goods using SMS. They can be identified by their cell number or reference number, ordering goods from their wireless handsets.

Live Banking Details
Banks can give access to bank balance details for their customers. These customers can send a username and password, and seconds later receive their Bank Balance via the receipt of an SMS.

Start and Stop process capability and notification
This allows the activation and termination of individual programs or services running on a server. For example, by sending an SMS text message in the form of "START PROG" can allow system administrators to start a process remotely. The status of an individual program or service can be monitored to include SMS notification if a program has been stopped, started or is running.

Automatic Delivery of Ringtones, Operator Logos, Group Graphics and Picture Messages
By the receipt of an SMS containing a keyword or reference number, companies can send Ringtones, Operator Logos, Group Graphics and Picture messages to the user requesting the smart messages within seconds.

SMS to Email
Following the receipt of an SMS containing an email address followed by a message, it can be automatically sent through as an email.
